Event Description

Mumbai (formerly called Bombay), well known as the heart of Bollywood film industry celebrates the art of filmmaking with Mumbai World Cinema Festival. Bollywood is one of the largest centres of film production in the world. Filmmakers and all film lovers are welcome to join us in 3 days of exciting events hosted in a prestigious theatre in the center of Mumbai. In addition to live screening of your work, you will also get opportunities for networking, participation in the discussions/seminars, a filmmaking workshop and co-creators meet on the sidelines of the main event. We offer celebrations for all who have a passion for filmmaking and for film viewing. We value story/content over budget. If you enjoy and have courage to experiment, here is the place for you to showcase your work.

Event attractions

1. 19 categories and 57 awards; Award ceremony with a grand cultural/musical evening attended by celebrities.

2. Certificate of Official Selection for all selected entries.

3. Cinema of all genres, any length and budget are welcome from all over the world.

4. No restriction on the year of making.

5. Script/Screenplay any length, any genre welcome.

6. A one day free workshop on the art of filmmaking for the successful entries.

7. Co-creators/ co-production meet for filmmakers looking for partners and stakeholders in their venture.

8. Works in progress are accepted provided the completion takes place before the event.

9. World premieres of the films are a high priority.

All nominated films, scripts/screenplays will receive laurels and an invitation to the event. Award winners will be announced in a grand ceremony after the screenings.

This is a special opportunity for filmmakers who don’t necessarily have a large budget, but a vision and an important story to tell. We are here to provide them with an international platform. We encourage experimentation and welcome out of the box ideas/content.

We will be handing out a number of awards at the event in a number of categories, selected and evaluated by our jury. We also offer film critiques for your film on request.

We encourage you to submit to several categories in order to increase your chances of getting selected.

Awards and Prizes

Each selected entry will receive a Certificate of Official Selection.

Rules and Terms

1. All non-English language films must be subtitled in English.

2. English films with English subtitles are encouraged.

3. We also accept submissions that have premiered elsewhere.

4. Multiple entries are allowed, however a separate entry must be submitted for each.

5. Entry fees are non-refundable.

6. We will not be liable for any costs claimed as a result of a change in scheduling.

7. No film may be withdrawn from the festival program after its selection.

8. . If chosen as an official selection, The Mumbai World Cinema Festival is granted the permission to exhibit the film at the Mumbai World Cinema Festival and all associated screenings.

9. Location and timing of any screenings of the film shall be the sole decision of the organizers of the Mumbai World Cinema Festival.

10. Filmmakers will be solely responsible for all costs resulting from the submission of the film to the Festival.

11. Although every precaution will be taken to prevent loss or damage to materials while in the possession of the festival, Mumbai World Cinema Festival is not responsible should any materials be damaged while in transit to or from, or while in the possession of the festival.

12. The filmmaker holds Mumbai World Cinema Festival, its management, juries, subsidiaries, partners, agents, sponsors, affiliates, and etc. harmless from any and all claims of liability resulting from entry.

13. The filmmaker certifies to have full rights and permissions. The filmmaker will indemnify the organizers of the Mumbai World Cinema Festival against all claims, demands, costs, damages, expenses (including legal fees), proceedings and losses resulting from the screening of the film at the Festival or from claims by any third parties.

14. The filmmaker certifies that the music used especially in the music videos is an original score.

15. The filmmakers availing student discount for submission will need to provide us with valid student ID or some other evidence in case their film is selected for live screening or for some award. Their selection or award will be cancelled if fail to produce any evidence.
